- Maintain a working knowledge of the regulatory landscape and specific conditions levied against key processes
- Act as a champion for effective risk and control whilst always thinking about how we keep things simple for the customer and our colleagues
- Keep things simple, proportionate and actionable.
- Ensure that the first line teams are clear on the "who, what, when and how" for each documented control
- Provide rigorous challenge around the effectiveness of controls from a 'real customer outcomes' perspective. Ensure that 'preventative' controls are designed over 'detective' ones wherever feasible.
- Ensure that controls are fully integrated within the departmental Risk and Control Self Assessments (RCSAs)
Skills:
- Can design strong control interventions: favouring preventive over detective where practicable
- Can balance the tensions between speed, accuracy, quality and control.
- Demonstrates the ability to keep things simple and efficient.
- Understands the operational imperatives and so can develop robust controls that take into account the broader business needs
- Can identify thematic problems with control effectiveness and recommend remediation plans to address
Experience:
- Has designed effective controls for regulated processes
- Understands Operational challenges and how to support this from a first line risk perspective
- Has worked within a three lines of defence model and understands both up
- Understanding of risk management and how to effectively document and review RSCAs
- Exposed to a variety of innovative control solutions that tackle novel problems without the need for significant manual efforts
About You
