Description

Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

We are seeking a qualified RCSLT/HCPC registered speech and language therapist who has experience of working with pupils with autism and complex learning difficulties, preferably in the education sector.

This position is part-time permanent (0.6 FTE). The salary (Band 6-7) and working pattern is negotiable based upon qualifications and experience. The salary is based on FTE.

The Loddon School offers a unique approach to therapy and education and you must demonstrate a keen interest in working collaboratively to provide blended therapy within an educational environment.

The Speech and Language Therapist will develop specific and personalised resources with the support of the Therapy team to enable an individual to access curriculum/activities of daily living effectively, work towards independence skills, transition within the school and work towards post-18 adult placements.

This is a unique opportunity to work collaboratively with a range of professionals and to use therapeutic skills creatively to meet the special educational needs of pupils.

You will be the sole Speech and Language Therapist at the school and you need to be happy working in that capacity.

It is desirable that you have experience of providing intensive specialist support and we will need you to have a focus on service development/service improvement.

You will at times be required to review education and health and care plans as part of a wide multi-disciplinary team so it is useful if you have experience in doing so.

At times when required you will lead and/or participate in training with key staff members about the speech and language therapy role and interventions so you must be confident that you can help deliver training to other staff members.

You must have experience in designing and undertaking specific functional needs assessments through informal and formal methods as well as being able to feed back to relevant staff.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and strongly motivated to join a multi-disciplinary team and be able to demonstrate an innovative and flexible working style.

We need someone who will be passionate about high quality education and support for children of all abilities. You must be confident and have excellent communication and IT skills.
