This post is at Birmingham Women's Site of Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust, one of the busiest tertiary maternity and neonatal clinical and academic centres in the West Midlands.

The Neonatal Service is a Neonatal Intensive Care Referral unit within the South West Midlands Neonatal Network and provides experience in all modern treatment modalities.

The hospital is the Perinatal Centre for the West Midlands. There are 8200 deliveries annually including a significant proportion of high risk cases.

The Regional Fetal Medicine and Genetics Services are on site and there is cross-site working with Neonatal Surgery at Birmingham Children's Hospital, with pre and postoperative surgical neonates and preoperative cardiac cases managed at BWH.

The Neonatal Unit currently has 12 intensive care, 9 high dependency and 20 special care cots which run at 100 % occupancy for most of the time, plus Special and Transitional Care cots, with a total of 57 cots, providing a busy and varied service.

There are plentiful Educational and Research opportunities on site and particular interests will be facilitated.

Applications are invited for the post of Education/Quality Improvement fellow within the department of Neonates. This is a full time post is to commence 1 st September 2024 for a period of 12 months. 50% of time will be dedicated to education and quality improvement which is very active within the department. The remaining 50% will be clinical work on the neonatal unit, participating on the tier 2 on call rota. There is a possibility that there will be opportunity to undertake education at the Birmingham Children's site.
