Description

Pinkmead Bistro & Tearooms is a growing independent restaurant set in a beautiful and unique location in the Hampshire village of Botley.

We are adjacent to an equestrian centre with views from the restaurant into their indoor arena and out onto open fields.

Are you looking for a new exciting opportunity in hospitality?

We are looking for someone who will be a long-term member of our team. This is a great opportunity for someone who wishes to develop and progress their career in restaurant management.

Recent experience in a similar role is required. You'll need to be flexible with your working times and be available to work a minimum of 16 hours per week including some evenings, alternate weekends, and during busy holiday periods.

To be suitable for the role, you'll need to:

  • have excellent interpersonal skills, a warm and engaging personality and natural leadership qualities
- have a flexible and hands-on approach to work, and be competent in controlling the venue, whether you're working independently, leading your team from the floor, banging out cocktails behind the bar, or jumping in the kitchen to help plate up
- have strong planning and organisational skills to run a streamlined operation
- have the ability to remain calm in stressful situations, be able to problem solve and think on your feet to make decisions confidently, and deal effectively with guest feedback and complaints
- have a strong eye for detail and presentation, and a wish to present the venue at its best at all times
- have good business awareness, be innovative and excited to help grow an independent small business.

Within your role, you will:

  • Look after a small front of house team of 23 staff, manage their performance, motivate and engage them, and use their strengths and skills to suit the shift's needs, and enhance their abilities to help them grow within their roles
  • Lead by example, ensuring an excellent level of customer service from both you and your team, and create & maintain a feelgood, energetic atmosphere in the restaurant
  • Maintain stock levels by making orders, receiving & checking deliveries as they come in, rotating stock, and practising good cellar management
  • Respond to customer bookings and queries, organise reservations, table plans & parties, ensuring everything needed is prepared and ordered ahead of time according to upcoming bookings
  • Ensure the venue is always clean, organised and presentable, and cleaning, opening & closing checklists are followed and maintained
  • Prepare cash drawers and petty cash, and be responsible for daily cash ups
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry guidelines, and maintain a safe working environment
  • Coordinate daily operations to work in synchrony with the kitchen team

In return we offer:

- a fast paced, fun and friendly working environment
- flexible shift patterns
- working with a close-knit team of like-minded people
- support and on the job training
- competitive salary
- gratuities in cash
- performance bonuses

- free meals on shift

If you think you fit the bill, and are not allergic to horses, then we would love to hear from you
