An opportunity has arisen for a 12-month secondment or fixed term contract to join the Trust's audit team, working 34.5 hours per week, preferably over 5 days, to cover maternity leave.

You should have a customer/patient focused approach and be self-motivated.

You will work independently and as part of a team and have an organised approach to data collection and processing.


As a Trust Performance Monitoring Officer, you will carry out a range of audits of Facilities Management Services to include cleaning and waste services, liaising with ward and departmental managers, as well as Summit and Mitie.

In this role you will;

  • Work to a scheduled audit programme, whilst managing your own workload.
  • Enter cleaning audit outcome data onto a specialist software package in order to provide reported scores and notify relevant teams.
  • Carry out post audit checks on areas audited and follow through on agreed actions within agreed timescales.
  • Ensure audit documentation and information is kept uptodate, including spreadsheets.


It should be noted that this is a physically demanding job, carrying out audits throughout all areas of the hospital.

Knowledge of working in a Healthcare and/or Facilities and Estates environment would be advantageous. Previous auditing experience would be advantageous but not essential.

You should be IT literate with familiar use of Microsoft packages and be able to demonstrate your customer service skills.

You will be given training and the support needed.


The Post holder will form part of the team of Facilities Service Performance Monitoring Staff carrying out physical monitoring and reporting on the services predominantly provided by Summit Healthcare (Dudley) Ltd (Summit).

To ensure that they are being delivered in line with the PFI contract; the Trust's Output Specifications, National Standards of Cleanliness (2021), Trust Policies, Statutory Regulations, National Guidelines & Patient Requirements.

  • Liaising with ward and departmental managers in order to arrange cleaning audits, carry out cleaning audits and provide feedback as required.
  • Undertake the cleaning audit programme liaising with Summit and Mitie as required.
  • Producing cleaning star ratings.
  • Carry out post audit checks on areas audited and follow through on agreed actions plans to ensure issues are addressed within agreed timescales.
  • To carry out a range of continual audits, guided by standard operating procedures, of Facilities Management Services provided by Summit and to produce reports on findings. This will include audits of the following services; Catering, Portering, Waste, Sterile Services, Laundry & Linen, Transport and Telecommunications.
  • Liaise with Facilities Helpdesk as required to log jobs as required.
  • Regular completion of documentation to ensure relevant spreadsheets/systems are kept up-to-date at all times providing information as required such as audit scores, audit attendees etc.
  • Carry out first line escalation for cleaning audit software, liaising with software helpdesk and follow through as required, co-ordinating with team.
  • Attend and participate in PLACE-Lite and the annual national PLACE assessments according to programme. This will include record all agreed actions, developing an action plan, logging calls on the helpdesk and following through on actions.
  • Attend identified training, including mandatory training as deemed appropriate.
  • Ensure all monitoring equipment is maintained so as to be kept functional and available for use at all times.
  • Report any Trust breaches/concerns identified on wards/departments to line manager.
  • Follow existing policies and procedures and where appropriate, comment on proposals in own area of expertise.
  • Attend team meetings as required.
