Located five minutes from the Inverness Airport, Cabot Highlands is home to renowned Castle Stuart Golf Links, named among the top 100 courses in the world by Golf Digest.

The property also features an art-deco inspired clubhouse, a practice area and a short game facility.

A second golf course along with our new Golf Park - which will include a driving range and a par 3 course - designed by world acclaimed architect Tom Doak, will be completed in 2024.

Position Overview


As Controller, you are a key member of our Cabot Highlands team and will be instrumental in building on Cabot's legacy of world-leading golf destinations.

Profile Overview


Reporting to the Cabot's Home Office Controller based in Toronto with a dotted line to Highlands General Manager, the Cabot Highland's Controller displays a high level of integrity, accuracy, dependability, and enthusiasm.

The Controller will work very closely with the Cabot Home Office team based in Toronto Ontario, Canada. They will possess a supportive and mentoring personality.

Flexibility with a can-do attitude that leads to accomplishing tasks and goals will be a key attribute of this role.

Core accountabilities

  • Collaborate with senior leadership team to prepare detailed annual budgets in support of financial and organizational goals
  • Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements including P&Ls, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statements, supporting commentary and budget to actual variance analysis
  • Update financial forecasts monthly based on uptodate relevant information
  • Collaborate with project leadership, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure proper project cost/construction accounting is established and tracked
  • Oversee debt draws and ensure all loan reporting and covenants are accurate, complete and in compliance
  • Establish and lead monthend closing procedures
  • Approve and process invoices for payment, including treasury management
  • Prepare financial and operating metrics
  • Complete all HM Revenue and Customs
  • Ensure all tax payments are up to date and assist with annual tax return preparation as required
  • Collaborate with the Talent & Culture team to process Cabot Highlands payroll
  • Support the General Manager in the preparation of all materials for all investor and other stakeholder presentations
  • Establish and monitor appropriate financial controls that are appropriate for the business' size and stage
  • Ensure secure and efficient storage of documentation
  • Ensure appropriate insurance is in place for the Cabot Highlands property
  • Support the annual yearend financial audit process for the Cabot Highlands team
  • Processing weekly cheque and EFT/Wire runs
  • Possess cash/treasury management skills

Qualifications:


  • 510 years of relevant accounting, financial planning & analysis experience
  • Additional experience in real estate, construction/development is a benefit either at Accounting Firm or within the industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Business Central or equivalent accounting software
  • Strong IFRS, Sales Taxes knowledge, and financial reporting technical skills
  • Professional designation such as ICAS is strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting is an asset.
