We are currently looking to recruit an experienced HGV Technician / Chargehand for our client's Ellesmere Port Workshop, CH65.This role will be split approx. 60% time on the tools, 40% workshop office based
Key Responsibilities of the Role:
- Lead a small team in the safe and efficient operation of a dedicated workshop providing repair and maintenance for a fleet of HGV and Plant equipment.
- Ensure vehicles are maintained above the minimum standards required by the DVSA This includes planning the maintenance of the fleet.
- Provide standby and out of hours callout cover when required.
- Ensure vehicles are maintained in line with the service planner.
- Undertake vehicle and equipment inspections, service and repairs on a mixed fleet of vehicles, in accordance with company policy.
- Have the opportunity to work on a range of vehicles from light commercial to HGV
- Ensure Health & Safety compliance at all times
- Maintain workshop related paperwork and computer systems to compliant standard
Technical Skills:
- Experienced mechanic (Level 3 qualified desirable)
- Be familiar with modern fault code reader diagnostic systems
- Have knowledge of HGV chassis manufacturers and specialist equipment mounted on vehicles
- Hold a Category C driving licence, advantageous.
Further Skills Required:
- Ability to work unsupervised
- High standard of work
- Work well within a team as well as the ability to use own initiative
- Be flexible regards working hours to meet business need
- Complete tasks to specified timescales
- Be organised with daytoday paperwork (e.g. job sheets and parts ordering)
- Hold relevant licences to drive or test vehicles and equipment
Company van is provided
Full-time, Permanent
£19ph negotiable DOE, plus £300 per week standby callout (approx. 1 in 3 weeks)
Monday-Friday days, must be flexible to work outside these hours to meet business demand.
