REPORTING TO Director


JOB OBJECTIVE
To assist the business in delivering all of Sharp & Bentley's varied work, which includes but not limited to assisting the director and/or other members of the team in undertaking site surveys, building inspections, preparation and /or the alterations of drawings and the preparation of reports

The level of responsibility will materially depend on your skills, knowledge, training and experience.


KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Qualification:
HNC or equivalent in Building/Construction

Working towards professional membership of the RICS


Minimum Requirements

Experience
Minimum of 2 years' experience working in property surveying role, within the UK property/Housing sector.

A working knowledge of the Building Regulations for residential buildings.

Familiar with and able to use AutoCAD drafting software for basic 2D drawings.

Able to measure a basic domestic house or flat and provide site notes for others to complete CAD drawings.

Able to research for technical information when requested.

Have good written and verbal communications skills.


Preferred Requirements
In addition to the minimum requirements


A minimum of 2 years' experience post HNC or completed a BSc (Hons) degree course in building surveying and working in property surveying role, within the UK property/Housing sector.

Working towards professional membership within 2 years or have obtained professional membership of the RICS.

A detailed working knowledge of the Building Regulations for residential use buildings.

JOB DESCRIPTION
A detailed knowledge of the Building Regulations for commercial, and retail buildings preferred, but not essential (training will be provided)

Demonstrate your previous experience in undertaking site surveys and /or site inspection reports.

Able to or have prepare reports using Microsoft Word and have experience in working with Microsoft
2D. carried out research for technical information for use within reports either prepared by you or for others. an understanding of industry standards, HHSRS and general Health and Safety relating to housing. kept abreast of changes in construction and service technologies and standards (CPD). read and interpret construction drawings and specifications


PERSONAL ABILITIES


The role requires that you are able to access low and high level areas as well as confined spaces, such as to inspect inside cupboards and loft spaces.


You will be required to climb ladders to inspect areas, only where safe to do so, and when you have passed our in-house and/or external training assessment.


You will be required to carry ladders and other equipment necessary for carrying out your duties and/or when assisting other surveyors.


An Enhanced DBS check will be undertaken as you may be working within care homes, schools and visiting vulnerable people within their homes.

Able to attend and complete health and safety training when requested.

Able to and willing to wear appropriate personal protective equipment where required.
