Description

The National Trust has set two key priorities as part of its strategy; by 2030 to better reflect the changing communities we serve, and to be carbon net zero as an organisation.

We're looking for someone with a real passion for our agenda around these two priorities, Climate Action and Everyone Welcome, ideally with experience in sustainability operations, project management and the ability to implement change.

What it's like to work here:Fashion-famous and full of colour, at 6,400 acres, Killerton is one of the National Trust's largest special places.

Located close to the vibrant city of Exeter, the 18th century house, garden, parkland and wider estate welcomes in excess of visitors a year.

Its size and scale makes Killerton a truly wonderful place to work; within the formal visitor experience area sits Killerton House, grade II* listed Georgian mansion and former home to the Acland family.

Close by is the grade I Chapel of the Holy Evangelists and the grade II Stable Block, all set within the grade II* Registered Park & Garden.

Killerton House is an accredited museum, which houses a nationally significant collection of fashion, as well as nationally important landscape paintings and portraits.

What you'll be doing:

Reporting to the Property Operations Manager for the Killerton Estate, you will be responsible for planning and implementing our projects around the two priority areas of Climate Action and Everyone Welcome.

Focussing mostly but not exclusively within the pay-to-enter part of the Estate, you'll identify improvements to help us reduce the environmental footprint of the property by decarbonising our operation, adapting to the threats and impact of climate change, and engaging our supporters in the work we are doing and sharing our stories widely.

As an organisation, we're determined to listen, respect and value the contributions of under-represented groups in the Trust. We want to feel that anyone who works, volunteers or visits can have an equally positive experience. We want everyone to feel included and that they belong.

For example we want to improve the visibility of our free to access places so more people know about them and visit when they want to.

You'll help us improve the consistency of our accessibility information we offer, as well as improving physical access for everyone with particular needs.

As a member of the Property Leadership Team, you will work closely with the General Manager and Heads of Department to contribute to the Property Business Plan for Climate Action and Everyone Welcome.

You'll work with staff and volunteers across the property to understand the change that's required and put in place plans to implement multiple projects, taking everyone with you and communicating clearly along the way.

Who we're looking forWe'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • Degree in a relevant field/NVQ/QCF Level 3 (Or equivalent previous vocational experience)
  • Awareness and understanding of the core purpose and work of the National Trust, especially around the two priorities of Climate Action and Everyone Welcome
  • Some previous project management involvement and experience, ideally within a project management framework structure.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Knowledge of budgets, finance, fundraising and contracts / contractors
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including some public presentation experience
  • Excellent people and influencing skills, enabling relationships externally and internally to be built and maintained
The packageThe National Trust has the motto 'For everyone, for ever' at its heart. We're working hard to create an inclusive culture, where everyone feels they belong. It's important that our people reflect and represent the diversity of the communities and audiences we serve.

We welcome and value difference, so when we say we're for everyone, we want everyone to be welcome in our teams too.
