Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Information Governance Officer to join our team in Glasgow.

As the Information Governance Officer, you will be responsible for taking the strategic lead in managing and improving information governance and data protection within specific data portfolio areas.

You will also play a key role in developing and maintaining relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners, regulators, and audit teams.

Additionally, you will be required to deputize for the Data Protection Officer when necessary.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Take the strategic lead for information governance and data protection within a specific data portfolio area or areas
  • Take the strategic lead on managing, monitoring, and driving improvement in a specific information governance and data protection
  • Develop, manage, and maintain appropriate relationships with relevant internal stakeholders, external partners, regulators, and internal/external audit teams.
  • Play an active role in the Information Governance and Data Protection team,
  • Deputize for the Data Protection Officer, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations and policies.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Information Management, Data Protection, Law, or a related discipline).
  • Proven experience in information governance and data protection, preferably within the private sector.
  • Indepth knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations, including GDPR and Data Protection Act.
  • Strong understanding of information governance principles, best practices, and frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills, with the ability to identify and address information governance and data protection issues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and selfmotivated approach.
  • Professional certifications in information governance and data protection (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM, IAPP) are desirable but not essential.
