As a member of the multi-agency Youth Offending Service, you will case manage low, medium, and high-risk young people, with aim to prevent offending, by providing a range of youth justice services for young people, their parents/carer and the courts as required by legislation and in accordance with National Standards.

About the role:


As a YOS Officer you will manage a case load of young people aged years old, who are involved with or on the periphery of becoming involved in the Youth Justice System.

You will be required to make clear assessments in relation to risk of harm to the public, risk of re-offending and of offence related needs, in order to allocate appropriate and targeted resources to the reduction and prevention of youth offending.

You will interview young people and their families/carers in order to make assessments and prepare reports for low, medium and high
- risk young people and act as the Youth Offending Service representative at Referral Order meetings and various multi agency forums including Court.

  • To prepare Pre-Sentence Reports for the use in Court Sentencing Hearings.
  • To prepare progress reports for the subsequent Referral Order meetings of the Youth Panel where the Order and contract is to be reviewed.
  • To develop and implement programmes based on principles of effective practice for all children and young people and their families in contact with the team.
  • To supervise, manage and enforce low and medium risk community sentences in line with national and other relevant standards.
