About The Role


Location:

Days & Hours:1 x
Permanent position: A minimum of 15 hours per week to be worked flexibly. 1 x Bank position also available covering additional hours and absences of other Support Workers. Please note, shifts may be required to be covered at short notice.

Pay:
£14.00 per hour, Weekdays,
£16.00 per hour, Weekends and Bank Holidays.

Driver required? Essential (will need own car to get to work, due to location of family home)

Driving Clients Car? Yes, our clients Wheelchair Adapted Vehicle (WAV), automatic

Using Own Vehicle for work purposes? Yes, On duty and to attend trainings

Essential Experience:
Aptitude and desire to work with young people with complex needs

Desirable:
Experience working with young people with trauma and an interest in therapy

Pets:1 dog and 1 cat in the family home.

Accommodation (while on duty): Fully adapted family home

We are seeking a patient, caring Buddy to support Hugo, who was born in 2007. He loves drama and music and will be attending 6th form to continue his studies for drama and film.

He likes attending the weekly drama club and had a speaking part on BBC Radio and would love to pursue acting as a career.

Hugo is an avid Dr Who fan and would like to go to Comic Con again.

He lives at home with his family and would like to start becoming a bit more independent especially to attend concerts and other events, he has an interest in food and cooking and would like support to cook his favourite dishes which are Italian.


  • Hugo suffered a brain injury at birth and has been diagnosed with Athetoid Cerebral Palsy. He has an electric powered wheelchair for outside use and is independent in controlling this, he has a manual wheelchair as back up but he is unable to selfpropel this. He also has access to a standing and walking frame at school. Hugo is profoundly deaf and uses cochlear implants, he uses spoken English to communicate.
  • Your role will be to provide support for Hugo within his interests and activities. He is dependent on someone to help him mobilise and transfer around the family home and to be around should he require help with personal care tasks. Hugo would also like to be able to spend some more time with his brother and take him to places in the local community.


This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated person to join a dedicated family and develop existing skills and support this very social young man.

Pay and Benefits:

- £14.00 per hour Weekdays and £16.00 per hour Weekends
  • Ongoing training & support provided 5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata
  • Free DBS check.

This position will require:

  • Proof of eligibility to work in the UK;

  • About You
  • Must be able to work with specialist equipment (training will be provided). A Handling Management Plan is available and is designed to reduce the risk of handling injuries, but you may be required to bend, kneel, squat, push or pull.
  • Experience with working with Cerebral Palsy
  • Confident and comfortable working in Hugo's own home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of him and his family
  • Can demonstrate commitment and passion for meeting Hugo's needs
  • Can demonstrate empathy and understanding in an appropriate and professional manner
