We are seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our Clinical Measurements team at Ashford and St Peters NHS Foundation Trust.

We are a very active department providing a wide range of invasive and non-invasive investigations.

Due to an expansion in the service provision within the Trust, the number of cardiac tests being performed has vastly increased and, as such, we are looking to expand our team of ECG technicians.

To work as a member of the clinical team in the Cardiology department.

To provide an Electrocardiography (ECG) service

To support the ambulatory monitoring service.

To ensure all patients receive appropriate and individualised care

We want to create a state-of-the-art centre for excellence for planned surgical procedures; with care delivered by dedicated, specialist teams in a modern and well-equipped environment.

Clinical Duties and Responsibilities:

To undertake a range of routine non-invasive cardiology investigations.

To give patient clear instructions prior to undertaking procedures.

To ensure all patients receive appropriate and individualised care.


To demonstrate technical proficiency in the range of investigations undertaken including interpretation of results with supervision and support from senior colleagues.

To maintain standards of technical competency in the provision of all non-invasive technical cardiac procedures.

To process ECG request forms on arrival in the department (both electronic and paper).


To perform the recording of electrocardiograms (ECG) on adults, paediatrics, outpatients, and inpatients in a variety of departments including A&E, NICU, and Labour wards, as requested.


To set-up, fit, and instruct patients on how to use ambulatory ECG and blood pressure monitors, and download recordings to ensure they are ready for analysis.


To set-up, fit, and instruct patients on how to use ECG event monitors and download recordings to ensure they are ready for analysis.

To assist with research studies as required.

To effectively, promptly, and professionally respond to emergency situations, summoning appropriate assistance as necessary by raising the alarm.

To be responsible for identifying equipment faults, and directly resolve fault issues by reporting them in a timely manner.

To participate in quality assurance and audit activities as required.

To participate in department meetings, training programmes, and other developmental sessions.

To ensure that own mandatory training is up to date.

To undertake basic life support training.


Educational:

To actively participate and commit to maintaining own personal professional development, identifying educational and clinical training needs in conjunction with the Operational Manager & Principal Cardiac Physiologist

To participate in in-house clinical competencies including log-book collection of tests undertaken.

To assist in the training of student physiologists or medical student rotating through the department.


Administration:

To register patient attendances on the department's PRISM / Cerner database

To book appointments onto PRISM / Cerner, facilitating patient choice

To be trained in the use of CRIS system

To carry out general clerical duties to include photocopying, filing, and faxing.

To be familiar with Cerner / PAS to track patient progression, case notes, and patient demographic and episode details.

To order portering services on the Cerner / Patient Administration System (PAS) to facilitate movement of patients and/or equipment.

To collect, collate, and disseminate results to requesting doctors, secretaries, clinics, wards, and other hospitals.

To communicate efficiently on the telephone with all staff, patients, and visitors
