Job description


The Caversham Group Practice is a very busy GP Practice in Kentish Town looking after the health needs of almost 17,500.00 Patients.


We are looking for a new team member to join our front of house/ reception team on fixed term full time basis of 1 year to cover a maternity leave role.

There may be potential to stay on in the role on a long term basis at the end of the maternity cover.

- apply**Past experience working as a Receptionist, Administrator or similar role in the NHS would be advantageous due to the fixed term contract on offer.

This is a 5 day week working pattern, between the hours of 08:00 -18:30 Monday to Friday.

Example of a shift patterns for full time: (exact working pattern to be agreed at point of offer)

Example for full time working

  • Monday 08:00 16:00 (1 hour unpaid lunch)
Tuesday Monday 08:00 - 16:00 (1 hour unpaid lunch)

Wednesday 10:30 - 18:30 (1 hour unpaid lunch)

Thursday 10:30 - 18:30 (1 hour unpaid lunch)

Friday 10:30 - 18:30 (1 hour unpaid lunch)


As a team you will be working towards national and local targets measured by KPIs as well as a wide range of administrative tasks.

You will need to work in an organised be as efficient as possible with regards to the practice resources to provide excellent patient centred care while also achieving NHS targets outcomes.


Dealing with the public is never an easy job, but especially at the moment when the NHS is under such intense pressure, this role has its unique challenges.

Salary:
£11.50 per hour while in probationary period (6 months unless probation extended), there after pay rises to £12.54 upon successful completion of probation.

Your post probation salary at 35 hours a week is equivalent to an annual salary of £22,822.80


Before you apply, please ensure you:

  • Are happy to work in a Health Care setting where patients are being seen face to face and you will be their first contact with the practice.
  • You are available to work Monday
  • Friday on site at the practice. This is not a hybrid or work from home role.
You are available to work the shift pattern we operate as specified above.

  • Can work occasional Saturdays with notice provided if required by the practice. (Approximately 2 or 3 a year)
  • Can attend a facetoface interview at the practice if invited to do so within 1 week of the closing date of this job advert.

Job summary:


The purpose of the role is to:

  • Offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
  • Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice including the provision of secretarial and clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the practice team.
  • Facilitate effective communication between patients, members the primary health care team, secondary care, and other associated healthcare agencies.

Duties and responsibilities:


The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by members of the practice reception and administration team "Practice assistants" may include any or all of the items in the following list.

Duties may be varied from time to time under the direction of the practice manager/ operations managers, dependent on current and evolving practice workload and staffing levels.

  • Completing Recalls to achieve Practices local and National targets
- reception duties as needed such as staffing the practice front desk, Switchboard telephony, registering new patients and prescription handling as rostered.

  • Dealing with all aspects of administrative tasks and assisting other members of the team in managing administration workload as required to meet turnaround targets.
