£ £23,991 per annum (Term Time Only)

Are you experienced in delivering good customer services and team administration, including invoicing?

Do you understand the Data Protection requirements organisations must comply with?


If you answered 'yes' to the above, and you are passionate about the protection of personal data and its appropriate use to support schools and have excellent communication skills at all levels, we are looking for you to work with us as a Schools Information Governance Officer.

In this key role, you will report to the IG Lead Assurance officer and work closely with the Data Protection Manager in:

  • Delivering the Schools DPO traded services to our clients.
  • Delivering Data Protection training to schools and undertaking annual data protection assessments and audits.
  • Monitoring the Information Governance (IG) teams' communication flows and mailboxes while ensuring queries are assigned to the most appropriate officer for a response.
  • Supporting the DPO and IG team in informing and advising the organisation and its employees about their obligations to comply with the GDPR and other data protection laws.
  • Monitoring compliance with the GDPR and other data protection laws, including supporting internal data protection activities, advise on data protection impact assessments; train staff and conducting audits.
  • Acting as a point of contact for members of staff and third parties.
  • In particular, you will provide advice, guidance and assurance to the Council by supporting and collaborating on the creation of newsletters, council updates and monitoring the collection of specific reports for board level meetings.
  • Supporting the Data Protection Manager and Information Governance Team in respect of collating, monitoring and sharing outcomes or updates in relation the Data Protection legislation, the Freedom of Information Act, Environmental Information Regulations and other related legislation and regulation in a timely and professional manner.
  • Working with the Information Governance Lead you will fully support the delivery of our schools traded service by arranging schools visits, monitoring queries and responses and supporting the completion and collection of annual audits and the service level agreements.
You will work with services to ensure information governance principles and practices are embedded in everything we do.
