Description

In this dynamic role, you will spearhead the development, implementation, and maintenance of robust data protection policies and procedures aligned with relevant legislation and best practices, supporting our overarching DPO strategy.


Your responsibilities include managing and ensuring compliance with data protection laws through regular audits and assessments, including Cyber Essentials, ISO, and GDPR, implementing recommendations to enhance our security posture.

As a leader, you will provide comprehensive training to staff, fostering a culture of data protection throughout the organization, and mentor your team to deliver efficient support services to the business.


Additionally, you will play a vital role in monitoring, managing, and maintaining our CP GDPR Framework, swiftly addressing, and resolving data breaches and requests.

Collaborating with the DPO Centre, you'll handle Data Breach escalations and ICO requests, ensuring a prompt and effective response to incidents.

Your expertise will be pivotal in conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments for new projects, mitigating risks, and serving as the primary point of contact for all data protection queries.

Requirements:

Essential

  • Bachelors degree in relevant field (e.g. Data Protection, IT, Law or related disciplines) or proven significant relevant experience.
  • A data protection certification
  • Proven experience in a similar data protection role preferably within the healthcare sector.
  • Experience in conducting risk assessments and implementing data protection policies.
  • Experience of developing and delivering training.
  • Thorough and indepth working knowledge of Data Protection legislation, including requirements of UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018 and supplementary regulations and good practice guidance.
  • Understanding of what privacy by design means in practice and experience in documenting privacy considerations.
  • Solid understanding of good records management practice.
  • Commitment to continuous development, staying abreast with new or changes in data protection laws and technologies.
  • An awareness of the CQC and relevant regulatory requirements.
Desirable

  • Leadership experience.
  • Previous experience operating in a healthcare environment or other heavily regulated setting.
  • Indepth knowledge of CQC and regulatory requirements.
