JOB PURPOSE:

As a Plant Fitter, you will be maintaining and supporting our fleet of plant equipment. Responding to breakdowns and carrying out preventative maintenance as required. We also provide Product and other appropriate training during your career with us.


You will be responsible for repair, maintenance, annual certification and servicing of a wide range of company plant in accordance with Company and Manufacturers Service Schedules.

Working with our
Transport/Plant Department to co-ordinate tasks by prioritising workload, communicating with

Transport/Plant team to deliver a high level of productivity and excellent standard of repair, whilst ensuring a clean, safe and professional workshop.

The ability to keep to deadlines and react quickly to technical challenges is important and you should enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.

Working mainly within the CPR transport and plant operation in Dumbarton assisting our mechanics and liaising with CPR plant team

Other:
Working within our Transport/Plant operation in Dumbarton and site visits, when necessary for plant repairs, maintenance and inspections including annual certification of plant equipment


PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  • Ensure a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness is maintained within the workshop and tools are in good condition to maintain a safe working environment and company reputation
  • Ensure that activities are executed properly and on schedule by working with Manager and
Transport/ Plant Department to deliver a high level of productivity and excellent standard inspections, maintenance, safe storage, ordering parts and keeping records, whilst ensuring a clean, safe and professional workshop to ensure legally compliant

CONTEXT:


  • Managing your work load day to day by communicating, coordinating and prioritising activities through effective communication and planning with the Transport/ Plant Department
  • Diagnosing mechanical problems, repair and maintenance of all CPR Plant to the highest standard ensuring all are in good working order, safe to use and stored properly
  • Carry out scheduled Service Inspections and servicing and repairs in compliance with manufacturers specifications
  • Providing estimates for repairs and setting timescales
  • Scheduling work to meet client's needs, considering workshop targets, the complexity of each job and the availability of parts to ensure compliance standards are achieved
  • Carry out all tasks in compliance with the Company's Environmental and Health and Safety
Procedures

  • Comprehensive completion of documentation including job / worksheets to ensure compliance
  • Assisting technicians with technical challenges and finding the right outcome.
  • Accurately recording technician time and writing technical reports and recommendations
  • High levels of organising and accuracy

RELATIONSHIPS:


Reporting to Transport Compliance Manager working alongside other HGV technicians within our workshop environment as well as communicating and co-ordinating with our office employees within our transport/plant department.


KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Essential skills include relevant experience in mechanics, hydraulics and electrical systems including previous workshop control or technician roles:

  • High organisational skills with the ability to think of feet
  • Qualifications should include Level 2 NVQ certificate in Plant Operations
  • Experience of working and carrying out inspections, servicing and repairs on heavy plant machinery
  • Literate, including basic IT skills to use, interrogate, update and retrieve data from the Plant
Management System and other forms of electronic equipment.

  • Working knowledge of appropriate Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Possession of own hand tools for work purposes.
Desired skills include Level 3 NVQ certificate in Plant Maintenance and Level 3 Diploma in Mobile and
Transportable Plant Maintenance


JOB CHALLENGE:


Remaining calm in fast-paced environment by maintaining focus, organised, communicating and being adaptable to ensure the safe and smooth operation of our workshop.

Job can be physically demanding.
