This is 12month long internship based at the sanctuary's brand new, purposebuilt hospital at Brookfield Farm, Honiton, Devon, starting in September 2023.
Initially 6 months hospitalbased with daily duties including in
patient care, anaesthesia, and diagnostic imaging. To then transition into an ambulatory 6 months looking after the sanctuary's 2,700 donkeys across Devon and Dorset.
To work with farriers, dental technicians and pathologists, gaining a wellrounded knowledge of donkey care and treatment.
Opportunity to produce a miniresearch project with the help of the Sanctuary's experienced research team.
We need an intern who is primarily welfare focused and with an interest in herd health to support continual improvements in standards of care.
Working with colleagues at the forefront of donkey welfare and medicine.
To work 5 days a week Mon-Fri from 8am to 4:30pm with team on call rota gradually transitioned into once the intern is confident and competent.
This internship will produce a vet that is competent in all areas needed for an ambulatory equine vet whilst allowing them to have a superior knowledge and understanding of the different needs of donkeys.
