Catering Supervisor - 12 month maternity cover contract:
Bouygues Energies & Services Solutions - Waterloo (KCL)


Bouygues Energies and Services is a global contractor and currently has an exciting opportunity within our Facilities and Maintenance department for a Catering Supervisor to support our catering facilities at Kings College London in Waterloo on a 12 month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.


This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to further their career in FM by gaining experience in a highly professional and corporate environment.


This is a permanent position working 40 hours p/week, 8 hours per day (rostered for 9 hours with a 1 hour unpaid break) typically either 07:30 to 16:30 or 09:30 to 18:30.

Please note there will be a requirement in the contract to work some weekends (on a rota), in particular for the three summer months of June, July and August due to weekend hospitality events/summer schools.


Key Activities:


  • To work in all areas of the business: café, restaurant, kitchen, hospitality, administration, as required.
  • Smooth, effective running of all outlets and hospitality/events.
  • Ensure all counters, displays, fridges are presented and labelled correctly and to the highest standard.
  • Order and maintain stock levels, minimising wastage, maximising sales, conducting monthly stock takes and cashing up tills.
  • Assist in compiling a weekly rota, managing shifts and the team.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of all catering areas through daily and scheduled cleaning.
  • Maintain a healthy, safe, secure environment and ensure compliance with all Health & Safety and Food Safety requirements/legislation such as COSHH, risk assessments, temperature recording, stock rotation, allergen labelling, etc.
  • Working predominately Monday to Friday with occasional evening/weekend work during term time for events/hospitality and university open days. Regular evening/weekend work during summer.
  • Working 40 hours per week, rostered for 9 hours per day, 8 working hours plus a one hour unpaid break, typically either 07:30 to 16:30 or 09:30 to 18:30 during an ordinary, standard working week where there are no evening/weekend events or summer schools.
  • Free meals and drinks whilst on duty. Free uniform provided.

Skills & Qualifications:


  • Previous experience working as a supervisor within catering/hospitality and/or as a Barista is highly desirable.
  • Outstanding communication and customer service skills and IT literate
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety, IOSH certification is desirable
  • Basic Food Hygiene trained (Level 2) with knowledge/understanding of HACCP.
  • Flexible with working hours must be able to work weekends/evenings when there are events/hospitality and during the summer schools program, out of term (approximately 10/11 weeks from the end of June to beginning of September each year), on a rota basis with team.
