Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

Environmental Compliance: Monitor and assess environmental impacts associated with rail construction activities, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and permits.

Sustainability Initiatives: Develop and implement sustainable practices to minimize environmental footprint and promote resource efficiency across project sites.

Risk Assessment: Conduct environmental risk assessments and provide recommendations to mitigate potential hazards and impacts on project sites.

Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with project stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and local communities to address environmental concerns and foster positive relationships.

Training and Awareness: Deliver environmental awareness training to project teams and subcontractors, promoting a culture of environmental stewardship and responsibility.

Health and Safety Integration: Work closely with health and safety teams to integrate environmental considerations into overall safety protocols and procedures.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of environmental monitoring data, incidents, and compliance activities, and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders as required.

Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and innovation in environmental management practices, striving for excellence in sustainability performance.

Qualification Pursuit: Take advantage of opportunities for professional development, including gaining qualifications in health and safety to enhance expertise and career progression.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
Proven experience in environmental management or advisory roles, preferably within the rail or construction industry.
Sound knowledge of environmental regulations, standards, and best practices.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct environmental assessments and risk evaluations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Selfmotivated and proactive, with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Willingness to spend approximately 60% of time on site, often in outdoor and physically demanding environments.
Relevant qualifications or willingness to pursue qualifications in health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) would be advantageous.
