The Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Site Acceptance Chemist to join a thriving, family-run business.

  • Sort and process incoming waste according to its chemical properties & hazards.
  • Provide laboratory and analytical support for all site operations.
  • Designate process routes for incoming loads and ensure all waste acceptance records are completed to a high standard.

Main Roles and Responsibilities:

  • To assess, segregate and batchin waste on arrival.
  • To operate in a safe and efficient manner, using the correct Personal Protective Equipment and working within the Standard Operating Procedures.
  • To complete all documentation accurately, including listing incoming wastes, filling out waste analysis sheets & supplying processing batch sheets to operators.
  • To ensure that all Plant activities are carried out in full compliance with the Company's S.H.E. policies and all Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and regulations in order that the operations at the Plant do not negatively impact on human health,the environment or public amenity.
  • To always provide plant cover, taking a flexible approach to break times and providing reasonable out of hours cover when required.
  • To cooperate with site management in improving Plant operating standards and adopt a fully flexible approach to all the site tasks on which training has been given.
  • To actively participate in the improvement of site housekeeping standards by dealing with issues within personal span of control immediately and reporting all other issues to site management.

Required Skills:


  • Degree or HNC in chemistry.
  • Good knowledge of chemicals, properties & hazards.
  • Ability to follow instructions and ask questions when unsure.
  • Consistent & methodical approach to work.
  • Flexible and cooperative attitude and approach.
  • Ability to work in a team or individually. Ability to selfsupervise.
  • Work outside in all weather conditions.
Desirable Qualities

  • Working knowledge of the operation of Waste Treatment Processing Plant.
  • Good working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
  • Working knowledge of internal and external documentation requirements.
