This is a very exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual with a passion for quality improvement to join our expanding Quality Improvement (QI) team.


The successful post holder will play a major role in delivering our QI strategy, working across the Trust to implement a culture of continuous improvement.


Working as a key part of the QI team, the post holder will be instrumental in delivering training, development and networking sessions to support the development of a culture of quality improvement Building on the work of colleagues since 2016, the QI team enable and drive the delivery of the Trust's 5-year QI Strategy, promoting continuous quality improvement and providing expertise in improvement methods as required.

We require someone who focuses on putting patients first and has experience of supporting others to explore new ways of looking at, and solving, their problems.


This role is a fantastic opportunity to make a difference through collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders; executive team, clinical and non-clinical colleagues, NHS Elect and other partners outside the Trust.

  • Contribute to the overall development of the QI approach at West London NHS Trust.
  • Be responsible for maintaining effective relationships with identified sites, ensuring QI maintains a high profile and overcoming challenges as they arise.
  • Support staff at all levels in the organisation to reflect and examine current working practices, considering how they can be improved and challenge and encourage changes to behaviour or practice.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical, nonclinical, corporate and managerial colleagues at all levels within the organisation to identify quality improvement opportunities and share and spread opportunities.
  • Challenge traditional working practices and professional role demarcations.
  • Provide guidance, support and agreed service lines in their improvement activities.
  • In agreement with Head of QI, lead and deliver a portfolio of work, including establishing a key relationship with an assigned Service Line(s) (clinical, central and corporate) on behalf of the QI Hub.
  • Work with the Head of QI to establish strong relationships are established with key stakeholders, including the audit and clinical effectiveness team, research team, business informatics services and service level clinical improvement groups so that evidence based practice is applied when facilitating improvement and any redesign, so that high quality standards of clinical care are delivered.

The quality improvement facilitator will
- work with Senior QI Colleagues (Trust Improvement Advisors and Senior Improvement Facilitator) to support Service Line QI Leads and management team to identify local improvement priorities for targeted QI activity.

  • Provide leadership, facilitation and local coaching support to teams undertaking improvement projects, using recognised QI methodology to maximise motivation, engagement, impact and learning.
  • Provide local coaching, training and facilitation support for teams that are running QI projects.
  • Support teams & services to establish local QI processes and adhere to the trust wide project registration and governance process for targeted QI.
  • Assist with the identification, scoping, resourcing and planning of targeted QI projects.
  • Prepare and disseminate case studies following improvement activities.
