Description

The Housekeeper works as part of the Private Outpatient Unit team under the supervision of registered nurses to support housekeeping duties as specified in roles and responsibilities.


The Housekeeper should demonstrate a level of skill and understanding which enables the individual at this grade to take responsibility for specific tasks delegated by the nurse in charge or in accordance with agreed policies and procedures.


PROBATIONARY PERIOD


During the probationary period, your suitability for continued employment will be assessed and provided a satisfactory standard is achieved and maintained, your employment will be confirmed.

The probationary period may be extended or your employment terminated either during or at the end of probation, in line with the trust Probationary Policy.

For the duration of the probation period, the notice period will be in line with contractual obligations on either side.


MAIN RESPONSIBILTITES

  • Sorting and ensure clinical rooms and store rooms and sluices are kept tidy.
  • Work co-operatively with others as part of the multi-disciplinary team, helping and assisting nurses and other clinical staff in the routine work associated with housekeeping duties.
  • Ensure that there is adequate amount of clinical and non clinical equipment and stationary in all areas
  • Liaise with Domestic Supervisor with problems associated with cleaning.
  • To report any faulty equipment or appliances and follow up repairs with Estates Department.
  • Running of errands within the department, or external such as pharmacy, collecting notes or any other ad hoc requests.
  • Monitoring stock levels and order as required. To order and top up stationary, nursing and medical paperwork. Computer literate.
  • To order stocks using PECOS

GENERAL DUTIES:


  • To comply at all times with the requirements of the Health & Safety regulations under the Health & Safety at Work Act and to take responsibility for the health and safety and welfare of others in the working environment ensuring that agreed safety procedures are carried out to maintain a safe environment.
  • To comply at all times with the Trusts Information Governance Policy. The policy sets out the accountability and reporting arrangements for Information Governance in the trust and how assurance is provided that the Trust continues to meet at least the minimum standards of information governance compliance required by the NHS Information Governance Toolkit.
  • Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) (formerly CRB) checks are now a mandatory part of the NHS Six Recruitment Check Standards for all staff whom, in the course of their normal duties, may have regular access to patients and children and/or vulnerable adults.
