Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and enthusiastic Hip and Knee Arthroplasty Consultant to join the expanding Trauma and Orthopaedic Service at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Hospital.


This post forms part of the recruitment programme for the new Kent and Medway Orthopaedic theatre complex at Maidstone Hospital which will provide capacity for an estimated 5,000 procedures per year.

Over the next nine months, the Trust will be recruiting to over200 new posts to support the Centre.


The new facility will consist of three laminar flow theatres, a 14-bed inpatient ward and a 10-bed day case ward, recovery, x-ray and therapy space, all within a 'super-green' building.


Laminar flow theatres are open-plan surgical areas and up to three patients will be treated in a dedicated space, with a specialised air canopy over each station to prevent the spread of infection.

Once complete,the theatres willexpand orthopaedic surgical capacity at MTW and provide increased capacity across Kent, Medway and East Sussex. This willplay an important part in elective recovery and the reduction of patient waiting times across the region. Currently, the build is on track for the opening in March 2024.

There is the opportunity for this post to become permanent after the fixed term period.
