Description

This trainee position will be offered as an Annex 21 contract, dependent on the successful applicant meeting the criteria for admission onto an approved training course in obstetric sonography.

Arrangements for pay and banding of trainees, Annex 21, of the Agenda for Change Handbook apply.


Band 7 Annex 21: 75% of the pay band maximum of the qualified rate which equates to £37,542 per annum pro rata

The post holder is part of a multidisciplinary team that provides ultrasound services to the Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department.


The postholder is responsible for carrying out and reporting ultrasound procedures to a high standard and in a professional manner, working within the departmental guidelines whilst being accountable for their own actions.


KEY RESULT AREAS/MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform complex ultrasound examinations, unsupervised and to a very high standard

Provide an efficient and responsive service to patients and users of the service


Act as a source of specialist knowledge and clinical expertise in ultrasound appearances, working autonomously & making clinical decisions, which may have a direct impact upon the patient's diagnosis, management & treatment, g.

combined Down's Syndrome screening

Interpret complex data in order to ascertain and identify any pathological or incidental findings, including those with diverse or complex presentations or pathologies, offering a diagnosis or differential diagnosis, where appropriate

Promote excellent working relations with all staff across the Trust

Evaluate and prioritise examination request forms prior to appointments being made

Royal Surrey Foundation Trust Maternity service is rated 'Outstanding' by the Care Quality Commission.

We provide antenatal care to approximately 2900 women a year and the sonography service is based within our antenatal clinic and dedicated early pregnancy unit on the ground floor of the trust.

We are currently looking to recruit a highly motivated and professional sonographer to join our team.

You are an integral part of the maternity care provision within the department and work closely with the Obstetric, midwifery and Gynaecology nursing teams to provide an exceptional level of antenatal care.


You will work alongside the Antenatal Screening team and two dedicated fetal medicine consultants to deliver the Fetal Anomaly Screening Programme and achieve all Key Performance Indicators within your practice.


Support will be given with professional development and there is opportunity to support ongoing improvement in practice and service delivery working collaboratively with the senior team, you would be supported to develop the work as part of the trust Quality Improvement processes.
