Duties will be different depending on the area in which you are working, and full training will be provided, your role will be varied and challenging but ultimately rewarding Your job may involve manual handling tasks such as lifting and moving of heavy parcels that may weigh up to 10 to 12 kg.

To meet these challenges, you will need to have a positive outlook, be resilient, and demonstrate excellent communication skills.

Medicines form an important part of treatment for the vast majority of patients.

It is vital that all members of our pharmacy team demonstrate that they are capable of, and committed to, delivering high quality accurate and timely care.

Storing goods appropriately including cold chain and restricted items.

Rotate stock to minimise waste

Ensure work area is kept clean, tidy and de-cluttered

Issue stock to wards and departments

Assist in the packaging and delivery of goods to ward and departments.


To answer the telephones and to deal with clients, nurses and other hospital staff in a helpful, efficient and courteous manner.

Co-operate with pharmaceutical staff in all parts of the Trust, to the benefit of the service as a whole

Receive, record and assist with prioritisation of prescriptions into the dispensary.

Record prescriptions onto the Prescription tracking System (PTS).
