Hours: 35 hours per week over 5 days
- typically Monday-Friday
Report to:
Deputy CEO
Location:
Scotcash, 55 High Street Glasgow although after full training it will be mostly remote / home working
Job Summary:
The Finance Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day processing and payment of financial transactions.
The job holder will ensure that expenditure and income is recorded and dealt with in a timely manner and in accordance with the Scotcash internal controls to ensure completeness and accuracy.
Month end balancing and reconciliation of all financial transactions will be an integral part of this role.Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receive and process supplier invoices, expense claims and requests for payment
- Post income and expenditure journals to the financial accounting system (SAGE)
- Maintain financial spreadsheets and records
- Undertake reconciliation duties including bank accounts, supplier statements and our loan management system
- Investigate and resolve any outstanding items from reconciliation duties related to month end balancing
- Liaise with Accountants and Auditors to ensure the production of sound financial reports and monitoring
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets in conjunction with the Senior Management Team
- Work closely with the Deputy CEO and CEO and support the Senior Management Team with financial information as and when required
- Supporting the wider activities of Scotcash, in line with the business plan; representing the business in a range of settings
- Any other duties appropriate to the post and in line with Scotcash's needs
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential:
Experience
- Familiarity with accounting and reconciliation processes within a small to medium size employer
- Using computerised accounting systems
- Carrying out bank reconciliations
- Processing and paying expense vouchers and invoices
Knowledge
- Knowledge of doubleentry bookkeeping
- MS Excel (basic to intermediate)
Skills and behaviours
- Numerate with excellent attention to detail
- Effective oral and written communications skills
- Work effectively unsupervised
- Work under pressure to tight deadlines
- Positive and "Can Do" attitude
Desirable
- Knowledge of SAGE accounting software
- Experience of working in a lending environment
QUALIFICATIONS
Desirable:
Higher National Certificate (HNC) Accounting or Association of Accounting Technicians (ATT) or similar book keeping qualification or experience in a similar role
