Development Engineer

Term: 12-Month Fixed Term Contract

We have a truly amazing opportunity for a Development Engineer to work for a world leading manufacturer, where each project gives you the chance to work on designing and developing world-class solutions at the forefront of the automotive industry.


You will become an important member of the Component Engineering Department, where you will take responsibility for developing integral components for a multitude of projects, components, and systems designed and manufactured by the companies IndustrialPower Systems Division.


Responsibilities:


  • Execution of Core Engine System validation consisting of static & dynamic rigs, dyno and machine testing
  • Conducting risk assessment through effective FMEA generation on components and systems to identify and address design risks and determine validation needs.
  • Be capable of understanding technical issues as they arise and execute root cause analysis through relevant tools, methods, data analysis and testing to resolve the issue
  • Conduct or generate reports to support component and system design reviews
  • Working in a multidisciplined team to ensure solutions meet customer, durability and functional requirements
  • Developing strong relationships with suppliers to ensure design solutions are aligned to high quality and cost expectations
  • Conduct or generate reports to support component and system design reviews

Person Specification

Essential:


  • Strong technical background (HNC or technical degree preferred in mechanical or automotive engineering) though other qualifications / experience is equally valued
  • Knowledge of Diesel engine core systems such as Rotating Systems, Valvetrain, Castings, Lubrication, Breather and Cooling systems
  • Good understanding of Manufacturing principles & processes
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Validation experience of mechanical components and systems, including both rig and complete system testing

esirable:


  • Bolted joint and sealing experience
  • 8D problem solving
  • Creation and Maintenance of DVP&R and FMEA's
  • Knowledge and usage of Team Centre data management software
  • Understanding of APQP methodology
  • CREO CAD software

Hours of Work and Pay

  • Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 4.45pm
  • Friday 8.30am to 4.15pm


  • Hybrid

  • Minimum of 2 days a week onsite
  • Up to £30 per hour
