Acorn Recruitment is searching for a Quality Engineer (Supplier) to join a well established manufacture based in the heart of Plymouth.
They have been in operation since 1947 with no sign of slowing down.In 1966 the company relocated to Plymouth and haven'tlooked back since, with them reaching record sales and product development during this time.
Key responsibilities:
- Engage with the shop floor production to actively identify, establish, and drive continuous improvement throughout the organisation, responding appropriately to the quality and failures identified
- Manage incoming inspection of parts delivered to the company, defining the inspection level to be completed and reacting to any nonconformances identified
- Manage nonconforming product from suppliers ensuring effective implementation of corrective methods using 8D methodology
- To deliver training across the organisation on critical quality skills including 8D, SPC, Visual Inspection and Root Cause Investigation Techniques
- Completion of supplier audits to ISO9001 and AS9100 standards
- Coaching of suppliers to ensure that APQP and PPAP requirements and documentation are achieved
- Actively identify and lead Quality improvement projects; ensuring completion in a timely manner
- Travel to suppliers both in the UK and internationally where required
Qualifications:
- Audit qualification against ISO9001 or AS9100
- Six Sigma Certification
Essential skills:
- Experience of Quality Engineering within an Engineering or Manufacturing Environment
- Formal training and comprehensive understanding of quality management systems ISO9001, AS9100, AS9120
- Ability to interpret Engineering drawings, technical specifications with a demonstrable understanding of Geometric Tolerances
- Strong and demonstrable experience in 8D, 5Why investigations and continuous improvement activities
- Demonstrable involvement in the use and a comprehensive understanding of quality improvement tools including Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (FMEA), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), 5Ys and 8Ds
- Experience of Supplier Auditing to ISO9001 or AS9100 standard; formal Auditor training preferred
- Knowledge/Experience of Project management techniques
