We are currently recruiting for an IT Support Officer will support and maintain the delivery of IT services to our operations at the Manston Short-Term Holding Facility (STHF) with a focus on developing the service support function in terms of maturity, performance, efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.


MTCs mission is to provide a safe, secure, caring and compassionate welfare and security service to detained people at Manston.

Our service users are new arrivals who have crossed the channel hoping to claim asylum in the UK, and we support them whilst their asylum process gets underway.

Working with IT Delivery Lead and EUC Manager, the IT Support Officer will be responsible for ensuring the timely and effective resolution of any 2nd and 3rd line service requests, problems or incidents including support escalations to other suppliers, managing our print estate, cabling, mobile device break/fix, basic training, and break/fix of the estate.

Experience and Skills Required

  • Good interpersonal skills. Liaison by formal and informal means with staff of all levels. Builds lasting working relationships and shows consideration for colleagues.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, including the ability to deal with conflicting demands, in order to deliver multiple projects, prioritise a heavy workload and fulfil the job requirements
  • Able to work with the team to find solutions to problems that arise and who makes decisions when necessary
  • Ability to quickly translate requests or problems into appropriate actions and solutions.
  • Maintains a positive attitude and conveys this to others. Prepared to adjust and be versatile to situations encountered.
  • Some out of hours work may be required and will be remunerated through overtime. This will be agreed in advanced with your People Manager
  • Must be able to travel within the UK via Car or Public Transport. Must be able to travel and work at Manston in Kent.
  • Must be capable of being security cleared to SC level.
