This is an excellent opportunity for qualified Physician Associates to gain wide ranging experience. These posts are designed for those who have completed their intern year.


Applicants will be required to register on the Faculty of Physician Associates (FPA) Managed Voluntary Register (FPMVR) before commencement of employment.


Additionally they must hold, or will do so on completion, a PG Diploma in Physician Associate Studies from a recognised University and have passed the UK Physician Associate National Exam, or equivalent for internationally trained applicants.


Joining the current 8 Physician Associates in the Emergency Department, the successful applicant will work on the Tier 1 medical rota in the Adult ED at Southport in addition to undertaking supported sessions in the Paediatric ED at Ormskirk.


Southport and Ormskirk Hospital is an enthusiastic adopter of the Physician Associate role and this post will join our existing 9 post holders.

This will be our fourth cohort of qualified Physician Associates in the Emergency Department to work alongside our teams of consultants, junior doctors, nursing staff and therapists.
