Description
Locum Consultant Physician in Diabetes and Endocrinology

Wrexham Maelor Hospital - North East Wales

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board

This post is a newly created post.

The successful applicant will join an established team currently with 4.2 whole time equivalent Consultants, 2 Specialist Registrars, 1 Specialty doctor, 2 IMT trainees and 2 FY1 trainees.

There are currently 5.1 diabetes specialist nurses (3.9 in secondary care).

Subspecialist interests would be welcomed and we would try to accommodate these wherever possible. There are research opportunities in conjunction with the new North Wales Clinical Research Centre and local Clinical Research Facility.

Plans are underway for the development of a medical school in North Wales, and we therefore anticipate increasing teaching responsibilities for Consultant staff, potentially with honorary teaching status.

There is a training course for all new consultants (within the first year) organised by the health board.

The hospital is superbly located in North Wales, with its areas of outstanding natural beauty, and within easy reach of Chester, Liverpool and Manchester.

We are pleased to announce that we are looking to expand the department with a new consultant colleague.

We welcome and encourage colleagues who want to work less than full time, as well as on an annualised basis.

We have experience of making job plans that work for the individual as well as the department and are keen to try to create jobs that work for people.

You are required to be on the Specialist Register, have CCT's in Diabetes/ Endocrinology and General Medicine or equivalent overseas experience or be within 6 months of obtaining these at the time of the interview.
