About the role
Onward Homes is now looking to recruit a Housing Management Apprentice to work within our Neighbourhoods team in Lancashire and assist the team in delivering a first-class housing service to our tenants and prospective tenants.
Qualifications at this level will enable you to be an effective housing practitioner and will provide you with a broader understanding of how your organisation and others in the housing industry work.
Modules will include Occupancy, tenure and lettings, rental income, anti-social behaviour, housing repairs and maintenance, customer service, managing leasehold and sustainable communities.

Key areas of apprenticeship work
Areas of work
- Support colleagues to allocate properties to people in housing need according to Onward's allocations process and Onward's targets for void properties; helping colleagues to organise commercial lets and to deliver home ownership properties.
- Help colleagues carry out tenancy management tasks such as signups for new properties and responding to tenant enquiries.
- Assist with the maintenance and improvement of the appearance of our neighbourhoods, including assisting colleagues to take enforcement action where appropriate.
- Provide support to colleagues delivering Specialist Living/Supported/Older Persons' services to customers.
- Support colleagues with income collection and taking payments from customers.
- Assist colleagues to help customers in need of support with financial issues such as affording their rent and maximising income.
- Assist colleagues to deliver Onward's social investment initiatives.
What are we looking for in our next apprentice?
Essential:
- Experience of working in a customer facing environment.
- Experience of using relevant IT packages including Word, Excel, databases and Teams.
- Ability to manage data accurately and to demonstrate attention to detail.
- Proven ability to manage a varied workload whilst achieving priorities and objectives.
- Excellent problem solving and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in order to achieve collective goals.
- Excellent communication and listening skills in order to deliver a highquality efficient service.
- Commitment to being accountable for own knowledge, skills, time management and personal development.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of Social Housing.
- Recognised Customer Service qualification.
