Job Description:
What your new role will entail;
AECOM are currently looking for a Design Lead to work on our joint venture with Caledonia Water Alliance where we have teamed up with Morrison Water Services to deliver Scottish Water's SR21 Water and Wastewater Infrastructure programme.
- Provide valuable support to Project Managers throughout the project design and delivery cycle.
- Identify the need for design resources and specialist input (ecological, geotechnical, hydraulic modelling, MEICA etc.
- Provide technical design expertise to support a multidisciplinary team which includes; Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Geotechnical and Environmental.
- Responsible for providing technical expertise and support for all aspects of civil projects, from design to implementation, ensuring that they comply with Scottish Water and Water Industry specifications.
- Have the responsibility of mentoring technical design staff and managing stakeholder expectations possessing knowledge of crucial design processes and communication skills.
- Check and approve design approaches, calculations, drawings, and technical reports while adhering to SW Specification & Standards and following CDM Health & Safety procedures.
- Supervise and mentor less experienced engineers while liaising with the construction delivery team to provide solutions to challenges that arise during the construction process.
- Liaise with clients to obtain relevant technical consents as part of the engineering process, keep uptodate with industry best practices, and identify innovation/best practices for consideration when appropriate.
Being part of the team;
You will be key to the Improving Urban Waters programme for our client, Scottish Water as well as delivering flooding and capital maintenance projects through our SR21 wastewater infrastructure framework across Scotland.
You will be part of a diverse team of around 30x Civil Engineers and CAD Technicians, with support from specialist Designers from within the AECOM and CWA communities.
The role will be based in Stepps, which is only a 5-minute walk from the train station, and local shops/café's and there's also parking provided too
Qualifications:
Here's what we will need from you;
- Engineering degree qualified
- Chartered Engineer Status (or approaching chartered status)
- Sufficient experience to lead major wastewater infrastructure engineering projects
- Ability to liaise and engage with clients and key stakeholders
- Provide mentoring, guidance and technical advice to support and supervise junior staff
