Clinical Pharmacist - Full Time & Part Time
Pharmaxo Healthcare, a specialist pharmacy provider and clinical homecare company, is expanding its team due to ongoing success.

Pharmaxo provides services to a range of patients across the UK, such as home medication delivery, nursing services, chemotherapyat home and patient support programs.

We are offering full time and part time opportunities to work as part of a team to deliver services on specialised products for rare disorders, oncology and chronic conditions.


Your role

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Responsible Pharmacist on Rota for the registered premises.
  • Accuracy and clinical checking of prescriptions for wide specialist areas of interest including oncology, immunotherapy, rare disease states.
  • Coordinating and planning the dispensary activity and supporting the wider team.
  • Procurement and management of supplies of compounded and specialist medications with support.
  • Supporting the patient services team in giving advice to patients triaging clinical decisions and following clinical pathways with further support from a wider team of pharmacist and nurse specialists.
  • Key stakeholder in allowing patients access to novel treatments via clinical trials, Early access schemes, Post trial access schemes etc.

Your duties & responsibilities

Dispensary

  • Acting as Responsible Pharmacist on a rotational basis.
  • Ensuring compliance with the GPhC standards for pharmacies; working with the Pharmacy Manager to ensure a safe and effective service is in place.
  • Supporting technical accuracy checking of prescriptions. Managing this workload whilst ensuring personal capability and safety to patients alongside a team of Accredited Checking Technicians.
  • Supporting and overseeing the labelling and dispensing of prescriptions, of varying templates and types, where required.
  • Monitoring the dispensary daily workload to ensure the workload is managed in the given timeframe. Assigning resource with confidence to ensure work flows effectively.
  • Delegation of tasks to other members of the pharmacy team.
  • Supporting accurate orders using multiple systems with various suppliers.
  • Oversee the stock management processes to maximise cost efficiency for both the company and its stakeholders (e.g., NHS trusts).
  • Correct filing of documentation within the dispensary.
  • Liaising and supporting the development of knowledge and training within the Patient Services Team.
  • Supporting the screening and dispensing process for medication in clinical trials with liaison with pharmaceutical industry stakeholders and clinicians.

Administrative

  • Clinically checking and approving prescriptions received for Pharmaxo homecare patients.
  • Managing the ordering of compounded products for patients and liaising with nursing teams to ensure a safe and efficient service.
  • Contributing to the development and maintenance of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), process design and Job Aids.
  • Willingness to attend and participate in meetings where invited, and to manage other responsibilities around these.

Other

  • To ensure compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act and all other relevant legislation i.e., Medicines Act, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH).
  • To follow Standard Operating Procedures.
  • To Liaise with key stakeholders within the pharmaceutical industry to ensure ADEs, and other regulatory requirements are met within the service provided by Pharmaxo.
  • To attend study days and update courses as are deemed necessary for the development of the dispensary and the individual.
  • To be able to adapt and work appropriately in situations not outlined by the job description.
  • To undertake any duties as required by the Pharmacy Manager or Superintendent Pharmacist.
  • Commitment to participate in any extended hours or bank holiday rotas, where requested.
  • Work collaboratively with Pharmaxo wholesale team and Responsible Person to ensure GDP compliance and support with decision making on deviations.
