We're currently seeking a Grounds Operative to join our team at ACS International School Hillingdon.
As a valued member of our team, you'll play a pivotal role in maintaining the impeccable standards of our school grounds and gardens.
From the expansive fields in Hillingdon to the serene landscapes in Iver, your dedication will ensure our outdoor spaces remain both inviting and well-kept.

Here are the core responsibilities of the role:
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake routine maintenance tasks for playing surfaces and landscapes with precision and care.
- Ensure the safety and quality of playing areas through meticulous preparation and cultivation.
- Expertly set up sports pitches and amenity surfaces, maintaining their integrity and functionality.
- Address minor repairs and landscaping projects with a keen eye for detail.
- Monitor and maintain irrigation and drainage systems to uphold optimal performance.
- Operate grounds maintenance equipment safely and proficiently, adhering to established protocols.
- Promptly report any equipment issues to facilitate swift resolution.
- Execute assigned tasks efficiently while upholding high standards of workmanship.
- Foster positive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Maintain cleanliness, tidiness, and security in designated work areas.
- Assist in the care and maintenance of hedgerows and trees as required.
- Actively participate in meetings, seminars, and training sessions as directed.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:
- Essential:_
- Previous experience in grounds and gardens maintenance, particularly in sports field upkeep.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
- Possession of a valid, clean driver's license.
- Desirable:_
- Relevant trade qualifications such as City & Guilds accreditation.
- Prior experience working within the education sector.
Competencies:
- Proactive and selfmotivated with a demonstrated ability to manage tasks efficiently.
- Effective leadership and team management skills, capable of guiding multidisciplinary teams.
- Comfortable working under pressure and adept at prioritising tasks to meet deadlines.
- Flexible approach to duties and responsibilities, aligning with the evolving needs of the school.
While these responsibilities form the core of the role, we value adaptability and teamwork, and you may be called upon to support other areas of the department as needed.
This is a full time, permanent, 52-week year-round contract position working Monday to Friday from 7am-3pm.
