We are a busy GP surgery based at St Ann's Valley Centre. We are looking for an experienced part time clinical coder.

You need to be enthusiastic and keen to work as part of a team within a very busy NHS environment.

You should enjoy working in a challenging environment with good customer service skills. You must have good knowledge of computer use and programs, and knowledge on a GP environment is desirable. Must be flexible to fill in for holidays and sickness.

The role involves accurately extracting and interpreting medical information from clinical letters and coding this appropriately on the clinical system (SystmOne) and making a judgment as to whether the letters need to be forwarded to a GP for action.

To summarise and read code relevant information from patient's clinical records into the practice computer system, working strictly in accordance with the practice notes summarising protocol.

There may also be some general administration work.

Desirable Criteria:

Experience of clinical coding, or a previous role with medical knowledge
IT skills and accuracy essential
An understanding of the importance of confidentiality in the workplace and able to follow data protection policies and guidelines
The ability to sustain high concentration levels for prolonged periods of time
You will be analytical and enjoy working with large volumes of detailed information
You will also need to be flexible, reliable and conscientious.
Be able to work as part of a team as well as autonomously.

20 hours - specific hours can be discussed at interview.
