# Job Purpose


We are looking for a Data Lead to lead on the development of our data strategy and build our capabilities across data engineering and data science.


This role is expected to be ~50% hands on development; you will lead on the development and maintenance of data architecture and analysis pipelines to deliver insights across research, product and business requirements.


The Data Lead reports to the Product Director, will work closely with all members of the management team and will include line management of the Medical Data Engineer.

# Key Responsibilities

  • Leads development of the data strategy in collaboration with the leadership team and wider business
  • Leads execution of the data strategy aligned to key business objectives, meeting research, regulatory and commercial requirements
  • Oversees the design, development and maintenance of data architecture in collaboration with the Technical Lead
  • Leads development of data engineering and data science capabilities
  • Provides line management and continuing professional development to the Medical Data Engineer
  • Oversees delivery of pipelines, abstraction layers and data analysis for research, product, innovation, commercial and operational purposes
  • Oversees development and maintenance of machine learning models
  • As a part of the management team, ensure alignment of delivery to company OKRs and maintain regular reporting to leadership on progress and risks
# Experience/qualifications

# Essential

  • University degree (any level) in Computer Science, Data Science, or equivalent professional experience
  • Significant experience managing and maintaining data architecture
  • Significant experience managing, analysing and visualising data for a wide range of stakeholder needs
  • Experience designing and building data models to fulfil business needs
  • Understanding of production machine learning and machine learning methodologies, including libraries such as pytorch and/or tensorflow and scikitlearn
  • Experience using a data stack and ETL processes
  • Knowledge of data processing and pipelining tools (e.g. Airflow/Dagster, Matillion, Flink, Pandas, Kedro, SQLAlchemy & Apache Spark)
  • Excellent and demonstrable experience of git source control
  • Data Security and Access (e

g Obfuscation/Anonymisation, Database Permissions:
Users, Roles and Schemas)

# Desirable

  • Experience working in a startup, including developing teams and capabilities
  • Experience with AWS
  • Experience with medical data / data from regulated industry, for example having worked to ISO 13485 and/or ISO 2700
  • Experience with gaze tracking / eye tracking
  • Familiarity with research documentation within a rapidly growing organisation
  • Knowledge of healthcare data standards, such as FHIR & HL
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tooling and automated testing

# Location

# This role will require you to attend the Bristol office twice a week.

# Salary & Benefits

  • Salary IRO £6575,000 dependent on experience
