Overview / Responsibilities:
Wood is currently recruiting for a Principal Structural Designer for a long term PSC Contract with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry.
- Provide Structural Design Expertise
- Provide input to structural and layout studies
- Define structural design requirements for technical scopes
- Development of deliverables and documentation required for use in offshore workpacks and in the supply chain
- Support the development of and/or develop requisitions for the procurement of structural related material and equipment
- Undertake design checking of structural deliverables
- Provide support to the Lead Structural Engineer and the project delivery team
- Provide structural design technical expertise to the project
- Adhere to procedures to assure technical integrity of structural designs
- Provide support for interdiscipline considerations through attendance at required design reviews and undertaking inter discipline checking
- Maintain own knowledge and understanding to meet competence requirememts of Principal structural Designer
- Provide feedback on lessons learnt to aide in continuous improvement
- Utilise software tools in design development and checking (eg PDMS, Navisworks, E3D, Hexagon )
- Assess progress and associated reports and advise of any slippages, correct inefficiency and take any resulting agreed actions
Skills / Qualifications:
Professional qualification or HND or equivalent with extensive relevant experience
