An exciting opportunity to shape and lead the new Strategic Commissioning and Strategy function within the NHS Birmingham and Solihull as part of its senior team.

You will play an important role in the establishment of a more integrated health and care system which better meets the needs of our population.


The post holder will be accountable for bringing to life our inception framework and operating model in the development of a strategy framework for the Integrated Care Board (ICB), working with professional and functional leads to ensure delivery and embed it in the organisation.

They will ensure that there is a clear Operating framework in place at a system level, including at Place and in Integrated Care Partnerships, and develop a set of enabling strategies that support development of the workforce, the estate and the digital infrastructure.


  • Ensuring that the ICB strategy is consistent and cohesive and fully aligned to the systems 10year development strategy.
  • Embed the strategy to drive forward the ICBs core aims of achieving Equality, Accountability, and Transformation.
  • Ensuring that all ICB strategies are fully aligned with national policies and direction and with best practice
  • Working alongside colleagues as we develop our approach to population health management and translating this to strategic content
  • Deputising for the Associate Director and Director across the portfolio as appropriate
