- Act as the main point of contact for the Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) Service, providing comprehensive knowledge of speciality processes and procedures, communicating directly with patients regarding appointment bookings, procedure details and instruction.
- Ensure effective communication between clinicians, specialist nurses, patients and managers, and all internal and external contacts to achieve an excellent and smooth patient pathway.
- Cover clinics during periods of absence to ensure turnaround times and standards are maintained, referring to Lead Nurse Specialist/Service Manager/Rota Coordinator as appropriate.
- Reorganise outpatient clinics in the event of cancellation ensuring waiting times are not breached.
- Maintain knowledge of clinic activity with a full understanding of the speciality clinic template, ensuring clinics are full to capacity with appropriate clinician/nurse availability, highlighting any shortfalls to lead nurse practitioner for advice.
