About the role
This role is a great opportunity offering a high level of autonomy and exposure to multiple technologies and platforms.

The responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Web Development, and working as part of the Web Development team, the Software Engineer responsibilities include:

Write well-designed, testable code.
Leading and planning specific tasks as needed.
Liaising with colleagues to implement technical design.
Recommending solutions and spotting new opportunities for technology to drive IGD forward.
Scoping and estimating development project tasks.
Eliciting and validating business requirements and technical specifications.
Formulating and communicating software architecture decisions.

What the Software Engineer brings

Technical

Experience of Web Application development using Microsoft ASP.NET (Azure experience beneficial)
Working knowledge of frontend JavaScript frameworks, CSS and HTML
Working knowledge of Data-Management tools and methods
Experience of professional software engineering and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.

Desirable

Experience with Content Management Systems (CMS)
Experience with Azure DevOps
Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery

General

A passion for solving problems and providing workable solutions
Strong analytical and reasoning skills with an ability to visualise processes and outcomes.
Good allround communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
Professional diplomacy, discretion, and integrity
Effective time management and task planning skills
Selfmotivated and proactive approach to delivering the needs of the role.
