Job description

The main responsibilities of this role are:

  • To work with identified students who would benefit from additional literacy and English intervention to support the development of literacy-based skills, including through our Academy phonics programme.
  • To contribute to the coordination of the reading programmes. analysis of assessment data, as evidence of students' progress and to accurately identify students who need extra help.
  • To organise intervention plans, informed by data, for each student needing help, identifying relevant strategies for reading, writing and speaking.
To develop a mentoring relationship with students needing particular support to achieve the goals defined in the action plan.

  • To model, encourage and promote high standards and engagement in literacy and positive attitudes among our Academy community including through parent liaison.
  • To work closely with the wholeAcademy Literacy Lead, other relevant leaders and class teachers in assisting students to achieve their academic potential.
  • To coordinate the Academy library and facilitate the extracurricular offer.
