Description

Across South London and the Maudsley NHS Trust we have been developing new ways of bringing together health and social care professionals with our Voluntary sector and local communities to support people with severe mental health problems, including complex emotional needs associated with a diagnosis of 'personality disorder' and disordered eating.

A key feature of our approach has been the development of a care offer delivered by staff from multiple partner organisations within the footprint of a Primary Care Network to deliver what really matters to people who need mental health support in that neighbourhood.

This emerging model of care is flexible to people's changing needs, with people 'stepping up' and 'stepping down' levels of support and intervention according to the complexity of their needs.

The post holder will provide psychological interventions to the Primary Care Networks Mental Health Services.

In particular, those with complex mental health problems, focusing on strength and assets to help people with what matters most to them.

The post holder will work with people who use our services to develop a shared understanding of the complex issues the person is facing, how they cope and the impact this has on their mental, physical health and well-being and those around them (psychological assessment and formulation).

Under supervision they will explore social, psychological, therapies and other potential options which may improve health outcomes and help them achieve agreed goals.

Service users seen by the post holder will include those who have experienced high levels of distress and complex mental health difficulties and risks.

The broad purpose of CAPs is to provide high quality, evidence based psychological interventions for service users with complex presentations on a 'trans-diagnostic' basis.

These are informed by psychological formulations derived from specialist psychological measurement and assessment tools co-produced with service users. CAPs can work with populations across the lifespan from different backgrounds and cultures. Individual

Our scope is unique because it is built on three major foundations:
care and treatment, science and research, and training.

By coming to work at SLaM, you will gain experience of being part of an organisation with a rich history and international reputation in mental health care.

You will have access to professional development and learning opportunities, and have the chance to work alongside people who are world leaders in their field.

SLaM delivered more than 14,000 training experiences in 2014; providing an extensive range of learning opportunities for staff at all levels.

In addition, our working relationship with King's Health Partners allows those working at the Trust to get involved in academic research.

CAP work is informed by problem-specific treatment protocols but based on formulation, the interventions would be much more bespoke and focused on overcoming barriers to service users' goals.
