Description
We are looking for an experienced
Transport Supervisor to join our transport management team.

You will be jointly responsible for a fleet of 90+ vehicles (a mixture of 3.5T, 5T, 7.5T and 12T) and 130+ drivers/drivers mates, ensuring the safe and efficient day to day running of the busy department.


Working Hours - 5 days across 7 (some weekend working) 11am - 8pm


You will be a natural leader, being able to lead by example with excellent communication skills and be confident using your initiative and working in a highly pressurised environment.

You will drive best practice and support and develop your team whilst managing an organised and cohesive team.

You will take a proactive approach to problem solving, mitigating disruption to our customers and boosting and maintaining team morale.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Ensuring all drivers have the correct and relevant paperwork
  • Demonstrating best practice adherence to procedure
  • Provide guidance and support to drivers and drivers mates
  • Deal with general queries from senior management, customers and drivers throughout the course of their day
  • Manage drivers and ensure deliveries are made with excellent customer service, abiding traffic/road laws etc.
  • Liaising with drivers and office staff, redirecting routes and mitigating disruptions
  • Conduct interviews, supporting recruiting needs and inducting new team members
  • Overseeing performance and probation reviews
  • Monitor and complete absence procedures in line with company policies and procedures
  • Supporting the drivers, completing deliveries when operationally needed
You will need to have experience in a Transport/Logistics role as well as the following requirements:

  • Effective communicator across all levels and departments
  • Positive and proactive approach, motivating the team to succeed
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage and delegate changing workloads
  • Excellent problemsolving skills, working well under pressure and responsive to change
  • Computer literate specifically MS Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Exposure to Transport Management Systems (TMS)
  • Full UK driving licence
