Join our team for an amazing opportunity as a permanent, Highways Maintenance Operative in Sheffield.

Salary:
£22,672 - £27,763 per annum depending on experience/driving.

Hours:40hr per week rota

Location:
Ecclesfield Depot, Station Road, Sheffield, S35 9YR

Amey operates the Streets Ahead Highways Maintenance and Management service across Sheffield, which is one of the UK's largest local government highways partnerships.

We are improving and maintaining 1,180 miles of road, 2,050 miles of pavement, 68,000 street lights, 36,000 highway trees, 28,000 street signs, 72,000 drainage gullies, 480 traffic signals, 18,000 items of street furniture, 2.9 million sqm of grass verges and over 600 bridges and highway structures.

You will be responsible for:

Perform various highway maintenance tasks, including carriageway and footway patching, kerbing, ironwork replacement, and drainage maintenance.
Attend work briefings to receive instructions and guidance on driving/operating vehicles and plant equipment with both general and specialized skills.
Participate in 24hr standby rotations during summer and winter for incident response, winter maintenance services, precautionary gritting, and snow clearance.
Allocate and track time and resource utilization in accordance with the operated allocation system.
Keep accurate records and complete all necessary paperwork, maintaining communication and liaising with Amey employees, subcontractors, emergency services, police, clients, and customers.

We want to hear from you if you have:

Experience in roads and/or street works
Hold a full UK driving licence. (Ideally have an HGV license, Class 2)
Desirable to have 12D M1-M2 (High-Speed Traffic Management) competency, though not mandatory as we provide required development.
