A rapidly expanding successful group that encompasses all aspects of the meat trade is recruiting Dispatch Operatives to join the day and night shift at our site in Irlam, Manchester.

Our business, which is a catering butcher, has over 100 years' experience in the meat and farming industries.

All products are prepared in the factory daily to each customer's specifications, packaged and labelled to and above legislation, and then delivered direct throughout the UK.

The purpose of this Dispatch Operative role is to ensure the smooth day to day running of all aspects of Dispatch Department:

  • to organise and oversee the loading of the vehicles.
- to accurately record loading information.
- to separate customer orders to specific routes.
- to load customer orders ready for dispatch.
- to load and dispatch third-party collections and deliveries.
- to work efficiently and within required targets.
- to complete daily reporting to the Dispatch Manager.


There is a considerable amount of manual handling and lifting required, working in a refrigerated warehouse.

Additional Information:

Nights, working 5 from 6 nights; Sunday to Friday 20:00 - 06:00 on a fixed rota. We can accomodate part-time working also.

Essential Skills:

Communication skills are key for this Dispatch Operative role and the ability to work to tight deadlines.

You will also need to have:

  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • A good level of physical fitness.
  • The ability to work individually and as part of a team.

Desired Skills:

No formal qualifications are required for this Dispatch Operative role, full training will be provided.

A fork-lift truck licence would be advantageous however not essential. If identified an essential requirement, the training will be offered.


About Company:

Our business supplies to customers including hotels, restaurants, public houses, the Education Sector, outdoor events, and food manufacturers. We also provide national distribution via our own fleet and transport partners.
