Description
Job description

We are looking for a Programme Coordinator who will help us deliver and grow our

Digital Dialogue:
Wales programme.

ABOUT THE POLITICS PROJECT

We specialise in digital democracy; supporting teachers, students and politicians to use digital tools to learn, teach and engage in politics, ensuring young people receive an outstanding political education.

We are working with the Welsh Government to scale up our

Digital Dialogue:
Wales programme

Digital Dialogue:

Wales connects young people with their local councillors, Members of the Senedd and Members of Parliament, giving young people a chance to ask questions and engage with their political representatives.

The programme provides teachers with training, learning resources and facilitated 'Digital Dialogues' - online engagements with local and national politicians.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Last year over 1300 young people, 40 teachers and 45 Welsh politicians (including the leaders of the four political parties represented in the Senedd) took part in the programme.

We're building on that success and plan to expand the programme across Wales.

As well as running Digital Dialogue sessions, you will also support educators to deliver Hustings in their schools, allowing Welsh young people to engage in the upcoming UK General Election.

The Politics Project wants

Digital Dialogue:
Wales to fundamentally change the way that young people and politicians interact across Wales. Help us to make sure that young people get their voices heard.

While fluency in Welsh is preferred, it is not a requirement for this role.

Working with the Head of Programmes, the post holder would support the delivery and growth of

Digital Dialogue:
Wales. This is a fast-paced role in a small but growing team.

The post holder will:

  • Work with the Head of Programmes to support the delivery of the

Digital Dialogue:
Wales programme.

  • Provide online, and occasional inschool, support for teachers delivering Digital Dialogue sessions.
  • Support the recruitment of teachers and local and national politicians across Wales on to the programme.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with those teachers and politicians.
  • Manage and keep up to date the database, producing reports when required. Assist with monitoring and evaluation.
  • Provide administrative support for the

Digital Dialogue:
Wales programme and other The Politics Project programmes and activities.

The job is based on a 16-month contract (including a 3-month probation period).

The Politics Project is based in London, but we anticipate the post holder for this role will be based in Wales.

We would expect the post holder to come to the London office once a month. The hours of work are 37.5 hrs per week. Occasional travel to elsewhere in the UK and working unsocial hours in evenings and at weekends may be required.

Benefits:

  • 25 days' holiday plus Bank Holidays and three days of holiday between Christmas and New Year.
  • Friendly and inclusive environment.
  • Professional development opportunities, to upskill and train you.
  • The opportunity to make a real difference to young people's lives, helping them to develop the skills and knowledge they need to give them a voice in their society and shape their communities.

ABOUT YOU
You will have a passion for democratic education.

You will be a self-starter, comfortable setting their own pace of work and managing their deadlines with only some supervision.

You can form good relationships with a range of people from different backgrounds and perspectives. You can negotiate, persuade, problem solve and be flexible to meet stakeholder needs.

You will be IT literate, comfortable working with video conferencing technology and other forms of digital communication.

Above all, you have outstanding organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to work under pressure and identify priorities. You will effectively deliver against set targets to agreed deadlines.

In accordance with our Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures, this position requires an enhanced DBS check that we will provide.

Also desirable, but not essential, would be:

  • Basic project management, planning, administrative and organisational skills experience.
  • Experience of running professional social media accounts.
  • Previous experience of working with children and young people.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Welsh education system.
  • Welsh speaker.

TO APPLY
The closing date is 11:59pm on Sunday 9th July 2023.

Initial interviews planned for Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th July 2023.
