About Us:

AK Teaching is a leading educational organisation committed to providing quality learning experiences for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

We are currently seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor to join our team on a supply basis, working within one of our SEN schools based in Morpeth.


Role and Responsibilities:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in supporting the education of Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4) learners with a range of SEN, including but not limited to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and other complex requirements.

Your primary responsibility will be to lead classes using pre-planned work in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Effectively lead and manage the classroom, ensuring a positive learning environment.
  • Implement preplanned lessons and maintain continuity in the absence of the regular teacher.
  • Demonstrate excellent classroom behaviour management skills.
  • Adhere to the school's policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Teaching Assistants (TAs) to provide additional support to students.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of students at all times.

Requirements:


  • Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor.
  • Confidence in standing in front of a class and leading learning activities.
  • Excellent classroom behaviour management skills.
  • Understanding and experience working with SEN, particularly ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and complex needs.
  • Current DBS on the Update Service.
