We are members of the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) who promote quality in the early years. We are committed to providing highquality early years education for children aged from 6 weeks to 5 years old. We also cater for children up to and including the age of 15 years in our breakfast, after school and holiday clubs.

  • A fantastic opportunity has become available at Small Talk Nursery Handsworth, B21 9HF.


They are looking for an Apprentice Nursery Practitioner to join their setting, to fit well within their friendly team and learn skills on the job whilst supporting children's play, learning & development.


Duties Will include


You will be trained to the high standards of our Early Years Practitioners, contributing to the high quality caring environment for children.

This includes creating a warm, friendly and stimulating atmosphere in which the children can develop emotionally, socially and educationally through individual attention and group activities.


You will be trained to as a keyworker to a group of children supported by the Senior to carry out keyworking duties.


Under supervision, you will plan and carry out activities in line with the EYFS and the children's needs and interests, keeping records of your key children's development and learning, looking for progression and continuity alongside the early Years Foundation Stage, and share with your mentor, parents/ carers and other key professionals.


You will develop positive and trusting relationships with children, treating each child as an individual and have a general understanding of childcare and child development interacting with children in an appropriate and structured way, playing alongside supporting them in their experiences and learning.

You will contribute to good standards of hygiene and cleanliness in Nursery, supporting children to understand this too.


As an apprentice you will be included on a Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship, this will involve a Regional Trainer meeting with you regularly to guide you through your apprenticeship.**- Future Prospects 1- This vacancy is for a permanent position (for at least the duration of the Apprenticeship) with the possibility of fulltime employment upon the successful completion of the apprenticeship.

Apprenticeship standards are aimed at developing skills within the Apprentice's chosen career route, each standard has set knowledge, skills and behaviours required to be successful within the job role.


To become an apprentice, you must:
be 16 or over
not already be in full-time education

You can start an apprenticeship whether you're starting your career, want a change or you're upskilling in your current job.

You can have a previous qualification like a degree and still start an apprenticeship.

As an apprentice you'll:
have regular one to one sessions with a dedicated trainer either remotely or through visits to your workplace

Apprenticeship standards are aimed at developing skills within the Apprentice's chosen career route, each standard has set knowledge, skills and behaviours required to be successful within the job role.

This will include the completion of functional skills in Maths and English.

Once the apprentice has completed a minimum of 12 months training and the employer and Inspiro regional trainer confirm they have met all the requirements of the standard they will be put through to end point assessment.

The end point assessment is independent from the training and includes a variety of assessment methods which test the skills and knowledge of the apprentice to ensure they are fully competent in their role.

Each Apprentice will be supported throughout the apprenticeship by a structured programme of teaching, e-learning, face to face training and workplace mentoring; this will encourage and help them to meet the requirements of the new standards and will prepare them for the end of point assessment.
